An Air Quality Alert for unhealthy levels of ozone is in effect for the Memphis metro (Shelby, DeSoto, and Crittenden counties) through sunset today.
Mostly dry, mostly sunny, mostly HOT. Here’s the good news – due to dry air, our high near 93 will actually feel like 93…so we’re not talking about heat index values nor excessive humidity.
Temperatures this weekend will likely be the hottest we’ve felt all year – climbing into the 90s. the forecast calls for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms each day – but not of the severe variety. Some may see the typical afternoon pop up storms containing lightning, gusty winds, and locally heavy rain. If thunder roars, go indoors. It’s the summer-like weather pattern that is returning to the News Channel 3 viewing area.
Today and tonight: Sunny, with a high near 93. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Overnight lows in the upper 60s.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 93. Northeast wind around 5 mph.
By midweek our next cold front moves in and brings some more rain chances, but the main story will be lower humidity and lower temperatures in the 80s – closer to seasonal.
It’s vacation season. Tropical Storm Arlene has formed off the coast of Florida. She will move south toward Cuba.
