The severe weather threat is over. This is now a steady rain/significantly cooler temperatures event.

This is one of those mornings/days when it would be grand to stay inside and read a book or take a nap. The tail end of that cold front is slowly sinking southeastward, yet we will still hold onto rain and clouds for a few more hours. Temperatures will be 20 degrees cooler behind the front. Precipitation will gradually taper off late today, but afternoon highs will struggle to make it into the upper 60s.

Today: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 69. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight: Cloudy, with a low around 60. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75.

Monday we get a brief break from the rain, however, a wet and unsettled pattern is expected for the week ahead. More heavy rainfall is expected Tuesday through Thursday, with severe weather possible midweek. As of now, the potential exists for 2 – 5 inches of precipitation across the News Channel 3 viewing area through the week. Highs will be in the 70s to lower 80s, overnight lows in the 50s and 60s.

Please remain weather aware.
