(Irving, TX) College Sports Madness has named junior University of Memphis pitcher Sam Moll to its Conference USA Preseason All-Conference First Team.

“We are very excited for Sam and to see him get preseason accolades speaks volumes to the year he had as a sophomore,” Tigers head coach Daron Schoenrock said. “We expect him to lead the staff this year and his leadership will be very important.”

Moll finished 2012 with a 5-5 record and a 3.48 ERA. The second team All-C-USA selection posted a one-hit shutout at Marshall last season. In a six-game stretch he allowed five earned runs over 44.2 innings. The southpaw enters his junior season with an 8-6 record and 3.24 career ERA.

“We have a lot of quality arms this year, but not many of those are experienced at this level,” Schoenrock said. “He has that experience as a starter and we will look to him to lead us and show us the way this season.”
