Popsickle campaign

Thousands of Mid-South residents are currently living with sickle cell disease.  It is a daily battle for patients and a new campaign called Popsickle aims to educate others on one of the most misunderstood diseases and the day-to-day life for patients. Dawn Fitzgerald from Qsource and April Ward explained what it is.

Southern Heritage Classic

One of the most anticipated HBCU events is the Southern Heritage Classic right here in Memphis. But it’s more than just a football game. Fred Jones joined us to talk about all of the events taking place this year.

Cooking with Chef Cody Wright

Kroger Chef Cody Wright was in the Live at 9 studio whipping up some banana foster flapjacks. Recipe
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup maple syrup
 1/2 teaspoon rum
Cook all ingredients until sauce starts to thicken, then add four firm ripe medium bananas, cut into 1/2-inch slices. Add 1/2 cup chopped toasted pecans or walnuts, if desired.
Top the flapjacks and serve with whipped cream
Mix any pancake batter with 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon oats and 3 mashed bananas.

Music for a cause

Suicide is the ninth leading cause of death in the state of Tennessee and UTHSC and the Memphis Crisis Center are working to raise awareness and help those in crisis. One way they’re doing that is through a series of events throughout September which is Suicide Prevention Month.
