RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina woman won the lottery just in time for Thanksgiving.

Vanessa Currence won $319,000 Monday in the NC Education Lottery and brought home a bit over $220,000 after taxes.

She told lottery officials she used her family members’ birthday to help her pick the winning numbers, and now she’s sharing the wealth with them.

Currence said she wants to rent a place to host a big Thanksgiving dinner for her family — and that’s no small feat with nine children and 27 grandchildren.

“I’m going to treat my family real good,” she said.

Her odds in the lottery were 1 in 749,398.

“I wasn’t expecting to win,” she said. “When my son told me to check my ticket, I just looked at him, and then when I saw the numbers I started jumping around.”
