MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are searching for three suspects wanted in connection to a homicide in Parkway Village that claimed a man’s life.
According to police, they responded to the 4800 block of Teal Avenue around 10 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a shots fired call.
The victim was reportedly walking up to a home in the area when he was shot, and three suspects were seen by witnesses fleeing the scene in a small vehicle.
Police identified the victim as Lavoris Williams, 33.
He was rushed to Regional Medical Center in critical condition, but he later died.
No arrests had been made and police were still investigating as of Thursday evening.
“I heard about 20 shots at first. I thought it was fireworks,” said Parkway Village resident Kenneth Miller.
Miller quickly realized that he was hearing gunfire, however.
Neighbors told WREG the two men who lived at the home kept to themselves.
“They just moved here. They hadn’t been here about maybe four months,” said Miller.
Miller, who has lived in Parkway Village for 19 years, says he hears gunfire all too often.
“The other week I was sitting in my den and some shots got fired off,” said Miller. “I called 911. It seemed like it was between my house.”
He’s not sure if the shots are related to this incident, but he said another house nearby was also shot up a few months ago.
Now he does what he can to look for his home and keep his neighbors safe.
“Every time you turn around, something happens,” said Miller.
