The annual event kicked off as usual with the arrival of the Peabody ducks early Friday morning. Local choirs from Overon, Cordova and Central Church even performed for hotel guests and visitors alike. The festivities will continue throughout the day eventually concluding with the arrival of Santa Clause and the lighting of the Peabody Christmas tree. According to the hotel, the massive tree stands at 30 feet tall and is adorned with more than 20,000 lights. It took 20 florists 7 hours to put together. An additional 11 Christmas trees and 600 feet of lighted garland was also used to decorate the hotel.
