BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. — A man is behind bars accused of raping two young girls from Blytheville.

WREG has confirmed 18-year-old Carlo Love appeared in court on charges of two counts of child rape on Monday.

According to authorities, the two children -ages 8 and 11- were at their grandfather’s home on November 20 when the attack occurred. The grandfather, who was using a breathing machine to sleep, had fallen asleep.

When Love went to sleep, they left the room and called their mother to come get them.

Both girls were taken to the Great River Medical Center for treatment. Forensic experts also performed an examination of the children at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

According to The Blytheville Courier News, detectives discovered bruises on the older girl’s body consistent with being held down.

An arrest warrant was issued for Love and he was taken into custody in Dunklin County, Missouri. He was extradited back to Arkansas on December 2,

When asked about the incident, Love reportedly said the three were wrestling and he may have touched the females. He went on to say that if they older girl had bruising it was probably from her going to the bathroom.

Love also said he knew the 11-year-old to be sexually active and she had made advances toward him on previous occasions and on the night in question.

It’s still unclear at this time how Love knew the family.
