Suspect Arrested in Teen’s Death

(Memphis)  A suspect is now behind bars, charged with shooting an Oakhaven teenager to death over the weekend.

26-year-old Jason Smith was arrested Sunday evening on first degree murder and attempted first degree murder charges.

He’s being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail. He’s scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.

Police say Smith was one of several suspects involved in the deadly shooting of 17-year-old Montarius Pigrum in the 3900 block of Bertram Cove late Friday night.

Police say Pigrum and six other victims were walking when they were confronted, chased and shot by the suspects.

The remaining suspects are still on the run. Anyone with information that could help police catch them should call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
