ALBANY, Ga. — A teacher said guns weren’t welcome in the classroom at Darton State College, and apparently this was the case even for a student who is a police officer.

A student, who is also a police officer, was asked to leave a class at the college Wednesday because the teacher was uncomfortable with there being a gun in the classroom, WALB reported.

The officer/student was wearing his police uniform at the time.

Darton State College said in a statement that it apologized to the officer/student for the “misunderstanding,” saying that “we regret this happened.”
