SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — A man wanted in connection to a recent home invasion and burglary in Southaven was taken into custody.

A spokesperson for the department said they had been trying to find the suspect, Joshua Jerome Nehring,  after he broke into a home on Blair Road on Monday afternoon.

A woman inside that home confronted him before he took off.

On Wednesday morning, an officer says he was driving down Stateline Road when he noticed Nehring’s vehicle.

He pulled into the shopping center to verify.

Police say Nehring saw the officers when he came out of Burlington Coat Factory and took off running to his truck.

An officer chased after him and was reportedly holding onto Nehring’s driver-side door when Nehring cranked the car to try to drive away.

Police say another officer on the scene opened fire and shot the back tire forcing Nehring to surrender.

WREG discovered Nehring is wanted in Shelby County for theft of property.

Nehring is facing a list of charges in Southaven including burglary.
