MEMPHIS, Tenn. — As people started to leave the stress of work, two lanes along Riverside Drive caused a different kind of headache.

Viewers told WREG traffic on Riverside Drive in downtown Memphis has been terrible all week long.

People like Brandon McBride blamed the city’s new bike lanes.

“I liked it better when it was four lanes for sure. It just made traffic flow a little bit smoother,” McBride said. “It looks like they made part of it a path or walking path. I don’t know what this other side is, but it’s holding traffic back a little bit.”

People said the parking lot entrances are the problem spots because people are constantly trying to turn into the parking lot, and pedestrians are crossing the street.

There will be a meeting Thursday to get input on the bike lanes at MATA’s central station.

The doors are open at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation is expected to begin at 6 p.m.
