(Dyersburg, TN) Nearly two years after the murder of mother of four Karen Swift, the investigation for her killer has been anything but swift.
Karen’s neighbors are frustrated and afraid.
Frustrated by a lack of progress in the sheriff department’s investigation and afraid because a killer is still on the loose.
Swift’s neighbor didn’t want to do an interview, but told me he’s frustrated with the sheriff’s department for the lack of information about the murder next door and a killer on the loose.
Investigators searched David Swift’s house this week, but deputies are not calling him a suspect.
He isn’t interested in talking to the media either.
Neighbors say David Swift is still living at their house right outside of Dyersburg with the couple’s young girls.
News Channel 3 has never been able to get in touch with him for comment after more than a year of phone calls and knocking on the door.
Randy Butler was Karen Swift’s boss at the YMCA where she had just become a personal trainer when she was killed and her body dumped in a cemetery.
“As a worker and as a person, Karen swift did wonderful things for the YMCA,” said Butler.
He says there are a lot of questions around town about the investigation, but he’s glad investigators are taking the time despite the pressure.
“They’ve got to go through the process and I would rather the, get it right than put our minds at ease,” said Butler.
A judge has sealed information about Karen Swift’s autopsy and cause of death.
