MARION, Ark. — All Marion School District campuses except Avondale were placed on lockdown at 11:03 Thursday, after a shooting near Marion High School.

The precaution was lifted a few minutes later, and all students and employees were safe, according to the district’s Facebook post.

The lockdown was called because of a nearby shooting, but did not involve a shooting at any school.

According to the Marion Police Department, a domestic dispute turned into a road rage accident. Police say two people got into an argument, and a man in a car chased a man and woman in another car.

They were involved in an accident at L.H. Polk Road and Service Road, across the street from Marion High School.

Several shots were fired, police said. The suspect left the scene.

Police are still investigating the incident.
