MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis protest leader Devante Hill has been taken into custody and booked into the Shelby County Jail.

He helped lead the protest that shut down the I-40 bridge in Memphis Sunday night.

As of this morning, Hill had two outstanding warrants in Shelby County.

One was for driving with a suspended license, the other an allegation of making a false report.

So who is Hill?

His website talks about growing up in a family of ministers and overcoming issues such as child abuse and depression.

He later studied at both the University of Memphis and the American Baptist Theological Seminary in Nashville with his focus on social injustice.
