MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police say no charges will be filed following a deadly shooting at a Hickory Hill apartment complex early Friday morning.

According to police, the victim in this case was shot at the Highland Park Apartments near the 2800 block of Hickory Hill and then ran across the street to the Exxon gas station for help.

The victim was taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition where he later died.

At the time, police said the person responsible for the shooting remained on the scene and was temporarily detained.

Several days later, police said their investigation revealed the victim in this case was trying to rob the victim when he was shot. The district attorney has declined to file any charges, ruling it a justified shooting.
