MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police officers responded to at least five shootings over the weekend, and three of them happened Sunday night, according to MPD’s Twitter account.

People who live in those neighborhoods say this year is already off to a bad start.

“Don’t hurt nobody don’t take a life just because you’re struggling. Everybody is struggling. I’m struggling now. I’m not robbing nobody, I’m not killing nobody. What’s that going to solve?” one resident said.

Sunday night around 10:20, a shooting sent a man to the hospital in South Memphis. Police say it happened on Elvis Presley Boulevard near the Elvis Presley Coin-Op Laundry and South Memphis Market.

The man was upgraded from critical to stable condition, but his shooter is still on the run and was last seen in a black vehicle.

Just 25 minutes later, police were called to Vernon Avenue for a shooting in the Mitchell Heights area.

The victim is expected to be okay, but police didn’t get much of a break — about three hours later they received a call about a robbery on East Boxtown Road.

Officers found a man shot and lying on the ground. He’s now in critical condition, and his shooter got away in a black sedan.

Police have yet to track down any of the suspects responsible for the crimes.

As always, if you have any information you are asked to call Crime Stoppers. That number is 901-528-CASH.
