MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people were rushed to the hospital overnight following a shooting in southeast Memphis.

Police received a shooting call from Birch Lake Drive inside the Waterview Apartment Homes just before 4 a.m. Friday.

Family members confirmed that a man and his girlfriend were asleep in the living room when bullets starting flying through the sliding glass door.

The man was shot in the head while the woman was grazed by a bullet. The Memphis Fire Department said both were taken to the Regional Medical Center. Their conditions were not released, but family members said both are expected to be okay.

Both authorities and the family said they have no clue what led up to the shooting.

Charlotte Osborn said her sister was hit in the pelvis, and her boyfriend in the head. But neither family nor investigators have any idea who shot them, or why.

“We have no idea what happened period, but I’m glad they`re ok,” she said.

Osborn said her sister Ameeka was just about to have surgery when she visited her this morning.

“They`re very blessed. And when I walked in the room to talk to him I told him, you know, I’m glad to see that smile on your face.”
