Police investigating deadly shooting at Whitehaven apartment complex

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police responded to a deadly shooting in Whitehaven overnight, but they still don't know who the victim is.

According to authorities, a person was found dead around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday between several buildings at the New Horizon Apartments. The victim was shot twice but police were able to recover eight to 10 shell casings on the scene.

The victim has not been identified at this time. Officers found up to 10 shell casings ina grassy area surrounded by apartments, a number of them vacant.

So far, police haven't released any suspect information.

WREG reported on at least three shootings at this apartment complex last year and Tuesday morning police were trying to figure out what happened to the man found dead between some buildings.
