The man was taken from Kirby M'Liss Cove near Kirby Downs Drive to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Around 5:30 Friday morning, Maria Castorena said she heard two gunshots from afar and then five more in front of her house.
“I jumped, I was very scared because you don’t hear that around here," Castorena said. "This is a very quiet neighborhood.”
She called police, then came outside to see a young man lying on the ground, bleeding.
Castorena says she didn’t recognize him, but found out he was shot twice while in his car.
She says he then drove up onto their driveway and hit her boyfriend’s truck. Tire marks were still visible.
Neighbors say police comforted him by holding his hand before he was rushed to the hospital.
