Police: Hospital security officer carjacked on campus

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A carjacking at Methodist University Hospital lands one person behind bars.

A security officer told police she was sitting in her security truck on the Bellevue and Eastmoreland side of campus  when she noticed a man later identified as Leslie Tate walking in the parking garage looking like he was lost.

When she asked if he needed help, the man became aggressive, she said.

He moved her out of the way, got into her car and drove away.

Police located the suspect inside the car in the 1400 block of Elvis Presley, but once approached by officers, took off.

He was finally caught in the 1400 block of South Montgomery.

Leslie was charged with carjacking, evading arrest and driving without a license.
