FERGUSON, Mo. — Some protesters in Ferguson resorted to violence after a grand jury decided not to indict Officer Darren Wilson. CNN reporters witnessed protesters smashing the windows of a police vehicle and attempt to overturn it. Some used bricks to smash the windows of a restaurant. Police tried to clear the streets with what appeared to be tear gas, but police said they were smoke pellets. Protesters were attending to a man lying in the street who apparently had been overcome by tear gas, CNN’s Jake Tapper said. The tear gas was so thick that CNN’s Don Lemon said it was extremely difficult to move. One protester named Angel told CNN that a woman in the crowd had a heart attack, and as several people tried to carry the woman away, they were tear gassed. In the distance, a fire burned. Most protesters were being peaceful, CNN reporters saw.
