MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One-year-old King Benner is in extremely critical condition and his parents behind bars following an overnight domestic dispute at Autumnwood Apartments on Kirby Parway.

Police said Yacobian Benner punched his girlfriend Tamara Roscoe several times in the face and dragged her by the hair. When the mother was putting the one-year-old in the car, Benner fired a gunshot in the air only six feet away from the child. Benner also hit another woman in the face with a traffic cone when she tried to break up the fight between him and his girlfriend.

During the chaos, investigators say the baby fell out of the car and was run over.

Yacobian Benner was charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Roscoe was charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence and reckless driving.

Both parents are scheduled to be in court Thursday.
