(George County, MS) A Mississippi man is accused of stealing a pet lemur during a burglary and holding it for ransom.

James Welborn, Jr. is charged with burglary tonight.

Police say he broke into a house in Alabama and stole the lemur and a television set.

The owner of the two-year-old lemur named Gizmo offered a reward for his safe return.

Police say Wellborn contacted the owner and set up a meeting.

But police arrived at the meeting and arrested Wellborn.

Gizmo is back home with his owner.
