Person killed in multi-vehicle crash on I-40

ARLINGTON, Tenn. — One person has died after two cars and two tractor-trailers crashed on I-40, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The crash report said the 63-year-old driver of a Merz E43 crossed the median from the westbound side to the eastbound side at mile marker 26. He hit two tractor-trailers that were driving east.

Those two trucks then crashed into each other and drove into the median, and one of them a fourth vehicle that was headed westbound and drove into the median, per the report.

The Merz driver was killed, but no one else was injured, according to the THP.

Both the eastbound and westbound lanes were blocked for a time.
