MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An off-duty sheriff's deputy was shot outside an apartment building in downtown Memphis.

Sergeant Joey Moore is a 29-year veteran of the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

According to a family friend, Moore was working to clean up a unit at the Chisca on Main in order to sell it when he was approached by a man wearing a hoodie and bandana.
