KAISER, Ark. — The Keiser Fire Department is investigating a house explosion in Keiser, Arkansas.

The explosion happened in the 200 block of South Poplar Street on Saturday.

“I was outside looking pretty much straight on the house and it just exploded,” Ronald Hallett said.

The Keiser Fire Department said an elderly woman died during the explosion, and a man was airlifted to Regional Medical Center with severe burns.

Neighbors said they tried to help rescue the victim, but the flames were too intense.

Identification of the victims is being withheld until family members are notified.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire but believe it originated in the living room area.

“Most likely just a horrible accident,” Chief Joseph Richmond, with the Keiser Fire Department, said.

Richmond does not believe any foul play was involved.

This is the second house explosion to happen in Mississippi County in one week.

The first house explosion happened in Osceola, Arkansas by an apparent natural gas explosion.
