MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A triple shooting around 10 a.m. Friday left three people dead at the Bent Tree Apartments on Providence Drive near the airport.
The families of three men shot didn’t want to talk on camera but Muhammad Kane’s family identified him as one of the victims.
On Sunday evening, police identified the victim’s as Mujahad Muhammed, 38, Kevin McNeil Jr., 21, and Muhammad Kane,21.
Kane’s family moved here from Senegal and family says they’d just returned from a trip to Africa.
Family members Friday were crying and throwing up their hands after finding out their loved one is gone.
“All of them died. That’s ridiculous. That’s sad,” concerned citizen Melissa Brown said. “It’s too close to home.”
Residents watched as the cars of the victims were each towed out of the complex. They now fear what’s next, since answers are coming in slowly.
Many said they heard the gunshots but didn’t come outside until police showed up.
“I got to the gate and all the police started coming behind me. I didn’t know what was happening,” resident Charles Foster said.
Foster just moved in to Bent Tree. He’s so new to the complex, when we caught up with him he still had his freshly signed lease in his hand.
For him it’s not the home warming he was hoping for. Now he just wants investigators to figure out what led up to the deadly shooting and he wants whoever did this behind bars so he can move forward with enjoying his new home in peace.
A motive and suspect information has also been withheld pending further investigation.
