MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A former Midtown bar went up in flames early Sunday and fire investigators say the blaze was intentionally set.
The Buccaneer Lounge on Monroe in the Medical District burned around 3:30 Sunday morning.
The venerable dive bar and music venue had closed and reopened several times in the past year but apparently was no longer in operation. It was vacant when the fire struck and there were no injuries.
The Memphis Fire Department says the fire was set in the interior. Damages were estimated at $22,500 for the building and $5,000 for the contents.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
