MEMPHIS, Tenn. — As yet another winter storm approaches, the Memphis Department of Public Works plans to purchase snow plow blades.

The blades however will not be available until next winter.

At least 10 blades will be purchased at a cost of about $100,000.

Nashville has used similar blades for several years to clear streets.

The blades can be attached to trucks already owned by the city.

For Wednesday’s storm, the city will not be able to treat streets ahead of time, due to rainy conditions.

Most of the MidSouth is under a Winter Storm Warning effective at noon Wednesday.
