MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police are investigating after a double shooting in North Memphis that killed a man and left a juvenile critically injured.

Two people were rushed to the hospital in a private vehicle from the 700 block of North McNeil around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

One man was pronounced dead and a male juvenile was critically injured.

Officers detained two people, but so far no charges have been filed.

A witness, too afraid to be identified, had just gotten home from work and was in her driveway when the violence started.

"What we thought sounded like firecrackers wasn't firecrackers. Some guys came down the street and they just started shooting at the other guys," she said. "People started coming out of their houses, running down the street to see what happened."
