MEMPHIS, Tenn. —  Jackie Cole, with the Class of 78, came to Melrose High School Thursday to present scholarships to two graduates of the class of 2018.

But like many who showed up for an assembly on senior day, she was welcomed by a disturbing message that was spray painted on the front of the school.

The message was so graphic we can't show you what it says.

Cole says it's not a true representation of her Alma Mater.

"This is a very special school to all of us and when you here things like that it's pretty upsetting."

This is at least the fourth school to be vandalized with profanity-laced graffiti this week, but the Shelby County Sheriff's Department doesn't think it's gang-related.

On Wednesday, we reported White Station and Overton High Schools were targeted, possibly along with Woodale.

SCS told parents earlier this week they thought a group of four tagged White Station around 11 p.m. Monday night.

Parents we talked to are disgusted and surprised the people responsible got away with it.

"The security team, I'm surprised they are not out this morning. Normally they will be out, but the police are going to take care of that," a parent said.

Parents and relatives who showed up for the special event Thursday say they would like to know who is vandalizing all of these schools. But some told us they have a good idea why.

"That is something they are doing for attention baby - that's all," a parent said. "It's somebody who is graduating and who is immature."

It didn't take long for crews to remove the offensive language from the front door of the school, and parents weren't about to let it spoil their day.

"My daughter is graduating. Her name is Tiana Gladen. I'm proud of her today," a parent said.

But still no arrests have been made.
