MCNAIRY CO., Tenn. — McNairy County Mayor Larry Smith issued a state of emergency Sunday, and county schools announced they would be closed this week, following strong storms on Saturday.

McNairy County Schools issued a statement saying schools will be closed Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29.

The schools are closing due to county-wide damage caused by Saturday morning’s storms.

Smith said the state of emergency was declared due to damage from high winds.
