MEMPHIS, Tenn. — First responders are on the scene of a massive fire in South Memphis. Black smoke can reportedly be seen billowing into the air all the way from the interstate. The incident is being reported in the 2400 block of Bridgeport near Alcy Road. WREG has learned the homeowner was grilling outside using charcoal. The fire wasn’t burning fast enough, and so the individual raked the coals back into the bag which still had leftover charcoal inside. He then placed the bag inside his home and left for the store to get another bag of charcoal. By the time he returned, his house had caught fire along with his neighbor’s. Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident. The neighbors have reportedly known each other for years, and are going to help each other rebuild from this terrible fire.
