SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — The woman accused of stabbing a man to death back in October has been indicted on second-degree murder charges.
Deputies responded to the scene in the 5300 block of Twisting Ridge only to find Wesley Johnson dead of two stab wounds to the stomach. Officials said he was lying on the couch and the suspected murder weapon was found nearby. There was also no forced entry to the home.
The intersection of Twisting Ridge and Valley Oak was blocked off for a few hours.
After an investigation of the scene, the case was considered a homicide and Johnson’s 49-year-old girlfriend, Decrese Beverly, was developed as a suspect.
Authorities in Pine Bluff, Arkansas took Beverly into custody.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Beverly had only been living with the victim for two months when the fatal stabbing occurred.
