MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man is recovering after he was shot at a motel in South Memphis overnight.

Police say the shooting happened at the Elvis Presley Boulvard Inn on Elvis Presley south of Norris Rd.

The victim was shot multiple times in the arm, leg and stomach, but was able to run to the lobby for help.
He was taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

“I was hoping it wasn’t the desk clerk I had to relieve I was just hoping it wasn’t him,” said Helen Cooper who has worked at the motel for 50 years.

According to investigators, the victim came to the Inn to retrieve some items in a room. When he knocked on the door, the two suspects inside refused to let him in and so the victim broke the window to the room.

That’s when a male suspect opened the door and began shooting at the man.

“We have people fighting all the time but no shootings,” added Cooper.

So far, police haven’t released a description of the suspects.

They were seen fleeing the scene in the victim’s 1999 Toyota Corolla.

“Whoever got shot, I hope he is alright,” said motel guest Demetrius Brown.

They’re asking anyone with information on this shooting to call CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
