MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police are investigating their third shooting in South Memphis in just 24 hours.

Late Monday night, 28-year-old Roderick Killebrew was killed on Wynton, just south of Jacklyn.

Police said the suspects were in a  Chevrolet HHR or a vehicle similar to it.

WREG’s Melissa Moon spoke to a neighbor who said she heard a barrage of gunfire around 10:30 last night and looked outside to see two men carrying the victim.  She said they were saying his name and yelling for someone to call police.

“I guess they were trying to help him. It appeared they were trying to help him,” the neighbor said.

Neighbors told us police were searching the backyard of a nearby vacant rental home, but it’s unclear what they were looking for.

The victim’s body was found just yards away from the house in the middle of the street.

Police later identified the victim as Killebrew. They have not identified suspects or a possible motive.
