MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police responded to a hold-up at an East Memphis Tops BBQ Thursday evening, officials said.
WREG has learned three customers and several employees were inside the business in the 4000 block of Rhodes when an armed suspect came in, demanded money and cell phones from the victims and then took off on foot.
Robert William was waiting to order dinner with his wife when it happened.
“He told her to give him her purse. She told him, ‘no.’ He said he was going to blow her head off if she didn’t give him her purse. So she gave it to him,” William said.
Customers said they called police and then followed the suspect to a nearby house. Police arrived there and took him into custody.
Authorities have not identified the suspect at this time, though witnesses said he was a man, 20, who used a BB gun in the robbery.
