MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man is behind bars after police say he kidnapped and raped a pregnant woman who then went into labor.

Rodrick Reed, 30, is charged with aggravated rape and kidnapping.

Police said he grabbed the victim by her hair and dragged her into his van.

This all happened Friday near South Third Street and Horn Lake Road.

Police said Reed then took the woman to a home on Blackhawk Road, where he wrapped a cord around her neck and raped her.

According to the affidavit, the woman escaped and ran to a neighbor’s house for help — because she was going into labor.

Police said she gave birth at the hospital, but the baby appears to be OK.
