MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is dead after a shooting near Overton Square in Midtown early Sunday morning, according to Memphis Police.

Memphis Police say they have issued a warrant for 19-year-old Kyla Jones as a suspect in this case (Shelby County Sheriff’s Office)

Officers responded to the shooting in the 2100 block of Madison Avenue just before 1:00 a.m.

Reports said a woman was located on the scene and transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition where she later died.

Police said there was no suspect information.

Many people in the neighborhood believe the home is a short-term rental and the shooting happened during a party. The house is just up the street from popular Overton Square, known for its restaurants and shops.

Monday, we asked Memphis Police if there was more information about the case but they told us “all available information has been released.”

The investigation is ongoing.
