MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman was shot and another woman was taken into custody in Whitehaven Thursday night, according to the Memphis Police Department.
Around 10:15 p.m., officers responded to the Highland Meadows Apartments at 5100 Village Pine Circle regarding a shooting where a woman was found suffering from a gunshot wound.
Detectives say Rachel Murkson, 29, was dropping someone off when she came across a woman who started yelling and throwing punches. The woman allegedly said she was going to “kill” Murkson.
She then through her window and hit Murkson in the face.
Murckson said she pulled her gun and fired a single round, hitting the victim in the head. She then waited for the police to arrive.
The victim was taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.
Rachel Murckson is charged with aggravated assault. There is no word if the woman who was shot is facing any charges.
