MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people are in the hospital after shootings in the Highland Heights area Monday evening.

Police say one victim was dropped off at the fire station on National Street.

Around the same time, officers responded to the 3300 block of Harding Avenue regarding a second shooting victim involved in the same incident.

Both victims were transported to Regional One in critical condition. One man was shot in the leg, the other in the stomach. Both are expected to survive their injuries.

One victim told officers shots rang out after he left a store on National Street. Two others described to police seeing and hearing rapid gunfire coming from a silver four-door Kia with four men inside.

At one point, a responding officer used a belt to create a tourniquet in order to stop the bleeding.
