MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was found shot to death Tuesday morning in a home in the Cherokee area of East Memphis.
Family members said it was not a random attack — he’d been gunned down by someone he knew as he was recovering from an accident.
Police responded at 5 a.m. to a shooting in the 1500 block of Prescott Road. A man inside was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s father, who did not want to be identified, said his 40-year-old son was staying in a rooming house after he was hit by a passing vehicle. He said the alleged shooter was someone the family knew.
Police have not named a suspect, but said one person has been detained. No charges have been filed.
