MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was found shot dead inside a mobile home in Mississippi, authorities said Wednesday.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office said the victim, identified as 43-year-old Frankie Cathey, was shot multiple times during a potential robbery and found dead on a sofa inside a home on Highway 309 South.
Investigators said Cathey had been dead for six to eight hours before he was found.
Deputies say a camera on the front door wasn’t connected to capture any of the shooting, but there are multiple agencies investigating to solve the case.
Hours after the shooting, loved ones stood behind the crime scene tape trying to wrap their heads around what happened.
With gun violence rising, Warrick Jones, a lifelong long resident of the small Marshall County community, said he believes offenders should do the time that fits the crime.
“Really and truly I think they letting them out of jail a little too early. I mean you can do something today and out of jail tomorrow and I think it’s sad,” Jones said.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says they have received calls about potential suspects. If you know anything call the sheriff’s office at 662-252-1311.
