MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police are looking for a suspect after a man was fatally shot in Whitehaven Wednesday night.
Memphis Police responded to the shooting in the 5200 block of Whiteplains Cove before 7:30 p.m. The victim was transported to Regional One but did not survive his injuries.
A neighbor who didn’t want to be identified said the street is normally quiet.
“My daughter gave me a call around 7:30. I was at work and she told me Daddy something has happened in the Cove and I was, you know, blown away, just surprised because nothing ever happens here in this neighborhood, on this side anyway,” the neighbor said. “But she gave me a call and to my surprise someone had got shot is what she told me and it was very surprising and alarming.”
Police say the known female suspect fled the scene. The neighbor believes it was a young couple who stayed in the home. He says they never caused any issues but they just moved in six months ago.
“I didn’t get a chance to know them. I saw them come outside every now and then,” he said. “It seems to be a young couple. I see some of the guys walking back and forth down the street so, they haven’t been here very long.”
