MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis mother is homeless after someone driving a stolen car crashed into her home Wednesday morning.

A woman told WREG she was home with her daughter when the car came crashing into her apartment on Faulkner Ridge Drive just off Sycamore View.

“I thought it was thundering and when I opened up my backroom door, a whole car was sitting in my front room,” the woman said. She said miraculously she and her daughter were not hurt.

No one inside was injured, but the family inside said they saw the driver run away, covered in blood.

“He knocked on the neighbor’s door and blood was running from his face. They said they wouldn’t let him in. So, he called somebody and told them ‘Hey dude. Come pick me up,'” the woman said.

Police said it happened at 3 a.m. The car had been reported stolen. Just before 4 a.m., our crews on the scene saw a tow truck getting ready to pull the car out of the home.

This mother said she works two jobs to provide for her family, and within seconds, all of her belongings were destroyed. She said what makes it even worse is she just financially recovered from a home break-in back a few months ago.

“They violated me in August. I had to renew everything and I did. Guess what? The same stuff that I renewed is gone again because the car has went in there. So yeah, I’m feeling some type of way about these young people out here taking something from somebody,” the woman said.

The Memphis Fire Department told us they did not take anyone to the hospital to get checked out.

Memphis Police have not said what led to the crash. However, they confirmed the vehicle was reported stolen. No arrests have been made and police are continuing to investigate.
