MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The University of Memphis issued a security alert to students after two armed robberies took place on its campus Monday night.

According to reports, the first robbery happened around 9:25 p.m. A male and female were walking on Central near Deloach when they were approached by two men wearing ski masks armed with handguns.

The suspected demanded the victims give them their belongings before leaving the scene in a four-door red Mercedes, UofM says.

The second robbery happened shortly after. The university says one suspect approached a female in front of a dormitory and demanded her belongings.

The vehicle was last seen headed West on Norrisswodd to Highland. None of the victims were injured, according to reports.

Allison Farber, a UofM student, says she usually feels safe walking on campus at night, but now she’s not so sure. “I mean, two people got jumped. It wasn’t just one. You’d like to think that a group of people is safer than just one.”

The school keeps a daily crime log of all incidents within the past 60 days, and while the list mainly consists of thefts and vandalism, WREG found another robbery that happened just days ago.

According to campus police, a woman was walking to her vehicle Saturday night when a man approached her, implying he had a gun and demanding she gives up her belongings. Police say he ran away when she screamed, and she was not injured.
