MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person was shot, and another was taken into custody following a shooting in north Shelby County overnight.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, a shooting occurred a little before 1 a.m. in the 5500 block of Oak Branch Circle.
An adult male was taken to Regional One in critical condition. One person was detained, SCSO says.
One neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified, said he has lived in the neighborhood for more than five years and the shooting comes as a complete surprise.
“It’s real peaceful and quiet, you know. Nothing really happens over here,” he said. “It’s real family oriented, you know. A lot of kids be out playing basketball and all down the streets and stuff like that, you know. People walking all the time and riding bikes.”
