MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A boy was shot Monday as he walked down a North Memphis street, police said.

It happened in the 700 block of North Dunlap Street around noon.

The Memphis Police Department said a male juvenile was struck and taken to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in non -critical condition.

Unfortunately, neighbors say they're familiar with the sound of gunshots ringing out from street to street.

"As I was sitting with my neighbor across the street, we heard gunshots," Dianne Peete said. "So she says to me, 'Where are those gunshots coming from?' I said, 'Sweetheart, ain't no telling.'"

Police say the juvenile saw an argument between three men on the street. Someone pulled out a gun and started shooting, and the boy was hit.

As for the group of men that was arguing, neighbors think it's actually a group of teens. Those neighbors say they initially ran down the street before returning to speak to police.

No arrests were listed in the incident report from MPD.
