(Memphis) A jury in the trial of Timothy McKinney told a judge it was deadlocked in a Memphis murder case.

The judge has declared a mistrial.

This is the third jury trying to decide whether McKinney shot and killed Memphis police officer Don Williams when he was off-duty.

Deliberations began Monday in his second re-trial.

McKinney was convicted in 1999 and sentenced him to death.

However, in 2009 McKinney was awarded a new trial after it was decided his attorney did not represent him properly.
